"Formations" variable edition letterpress print

Process

Wood type commas were arranged and set on the bed of a cylinder press. Each print was hand-inked in a way that creates texture and variations in depth of color. They were printed in all four directions to overlap, resulting in a composition that reminds me of birds flying in formation. These are variable editions because they are printed with the same design and process in a series, but each one is inked differently.
