Process

Wood type commas were arranged and set on the bed of a cylinder press. Each monoprint was hand-inked in a way that creates texture and variations in depth of color. They were printed in all four directions to overlap, resulting in a composition that reminds me of birds flying in formation.

A monoprint is a variable edition print, each one unique but part of a series; in this case, the composition is the same and was printed repeatedly, but each one was inked differently.
