This past Saturday (August 2), the studio filled with the hum of conversation, an inky press, and shared joy as we celebrated Stationery Store Day 2025 at Open to Being in Arlington, VA.
From the moment the doors opened, the space transformed into a warm and lively creative hub, full of conversation and connection. Neighbors from Avalon at Arlington Square dropped by. Curious stationery lovers wandered in throughout the day. One couple even made it part of a Saturday date, exploring the beauty of slow, intentional creativity together.
Creative Moments and Hands-On Fun
A highlight of the day was our mindful coloring station, where guests brought life to letterpress-printed postcards made on upcycled file folders. It was a simple but joyful way to slow down, express themselves with color, and connect.
Visitors also got to try the press themselves, placing paper on the platen and pulling the lever to make a new impression. The favorite? A vintage “Arlington” block, turned into a keepsake to take home.
The Magic of Slowing Down Together
What stood out most in the day was the visiting—strangers chatting at the coloring table, and guests lingering to talk with me about the letterpress process, stationery, and the people they wanted to send a particular greeting card to.
Thank You for Celebrating With Us
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who came by, stayed a while, and took home one of our Open to Being greeting cards, art prints, or new Stationery Store Day releases (now available online)! Your presence turned the day into more than just a shopping event. It truly was a celebration of community, creativity, and connection - and of course, stationery!
