Theresa’s Table: A Winter Gathering

Theresa’s Table: A Winter Gathering

After the rush of the holidays, January and February bring a quieter pause—a chance to reconnect, linger, take time for ourselves, and celebrate love.

That’s the spirit behind our winter Theresa’s Table gathering on Saturday, February 7.

Offered seasonally, Theresa’s Table brings people into our Arlington, VA studio + shop for a curated shopping experience where heart meets craft. Rooted in my background designing immersive museum experiences, these gatherings are intentionally small, welcoming, and relational. I want people to connect with the makers and enjoy a slower, more heart-centered way of shopping.

In winter especially, this kind of gathering feels essential. Our warm, light-filled space lets you take your time and relax as you explore the studio + shop. February also happens to hold Valentine’s Day, a moment often associated with grand gestures. At Open to Being, I hold a more expansive view of love. I don’t believe we need a single day to tell someone we care—but the slowness of winter, and February in particular, offers a beautiful invitation to express kindness and care through a handwritten note or a thoughtfully chosen gift from the heart.

On February 7, you’ll find two local, women-owned businesses alongside Open to Being letterpress stationery designed to honor connection in all its forms—romantic, platonic, familial, and communal. Mizan of Twisted Treats will bring delicious, seasonally festive sweets for all the sweethearts in your life (including yourself). Greta of Clay & Candle will showcase her spring candle scents in mercury glass vessels, apothecary ceramics, and porcelain votive holders.

Theresa’s Table is also a lovely opportunity to create thoughtful pairings across the shop. Combine Open to Being small notebooks with Blackwing pencil sets for a simple, creative gift. Pair a mindful print with a handwritten card, or tuck your finds into a Lavender Lizard Press tote to carry home your treasures. It’s all about choosing pieces that feel personal, useful, and meant to be enjoyed.

Mizan Irby | Twisted Treats

Sweets baked with intention and a whole lot of heart.

Mizan, the baker behind Twisted Treats, believes that desserts are about more than satisfying a craving. Her treats are meant to bring people together—at celebrations, milestones, simple gatherings, and everyday moments that become special because they’re shared.

I chose Twisted Treats because her baked goods are delightful and delicious, meant to be enjoyed slowly, shared generously, and remembered. Behind every cookie, macaroon, or cupcake is a real person pouring time, care, and love into what she makes. What began as baking for friends and family has grown into a business rooted in connection, comfort, and joy.

Greta Wilhelm | Clay & Candle

Hand-poured candles in elegant vessels, for warmth and light all year long.

Greta is an architect and construction manager who developed a love for ceramics early in life. After reconnecting with clay in 2020, she began exploring porcelain slipcasting and making candles in her cast containers. She also enjoys using mercury glass vessels, which create a warm glow that’s lovely in your home and adds a bit of sparkle to evening gatherings.

I burned one of Greta’s White Birch candles in my studio throughout December (and sold them in the shop), and I loved it so much that I invited her to bring more of her handmade containers and hand-poured candles for our February gathering.

The Theresa's Table Experience

Theresa’s Table is designed to feel personal and unhurried. With a limited number of guests in the studio at one time, there’s room to slow down, linger, and have real conversations—with the makers, with each other, and with me.

As you move through the studio, you’ll discover the care each maker puts into her process. You’ll see our vintage equipment up close and learn how letterpress printing is as mindful as the cards and prints we create here. You might even feel inspired to print your own social stationery in one of our bespoke workshops.

Theresa’s Table is about presence. Come gather, linger, and discover something made with heart.
